Believer's Baptism

Sunday, 27. April 2025

When an Ethiopian eunuch was reading in a scroll of Isaiah, while riding in a chariot on his way home from Jerusalem, the Spirit of God sent one of His servants to guide him. Philip preached Jesus from the same scripture the eunuch was reading, Isaiah 53:7-8 "He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so openeth not his mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken." Here we see the savior of the world, brought to the lowest point any could experience, for you and for me. He was wounded for our transgressions. He paid the price we could not pay on Calvary.

They came to some water and the eunuch asked what prevented him from being baptized. "If you believe with all thine heart, thou mayest." said Philip. "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God." answered the eunuch. They then stopped and Philip baptized the eunuch as a new believer in Jesus Christ as the savior and Son of God. His baptism didn't save him, but demonstrated his new relationship with God. Do you have this relationship with God, through Jesus? You can today. Put your trust in Him and confess openly that He is the Son of God.
